Ffestiniog Railway, Talyllyn Railway, Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway

The Mawddach Railway bridge at BarmouthWe are fortunate in still retaining our rail link with the main line. You could arrive by train at Harlech station, and if we are not available to pick you up, a taxi could bring you to Gwrach Ynys. The coast run to Aberdovey is especially scenic. Arriva Train Wales will have the timetables. We are also fortunate in having more than our fair share of narrow gauge railways - a mecca for steam buffs, great little trains of wales.

Ffestiniog RailwayFfestiniog Railway, fifteen minutes away, is one of the most famous, and this railway will shortly be joined, at Porthmadog, to the Highland Railway, currently running past Snowdon towards Beddgelert. The Talyllyn Railway, is also testament to our mining past, as is the Rheidol Railway, further south.

Snowdon RailwayProbably the most famous narrow gauge railway in the world is the Snowdon mountain railway which takes an hour to transport you to a different world, from the valley bottom to the highest summit in England and Wales .
